Clover Connect - ARE YOU READY TO BE CLOVERCONNECTED? (by B. Parker)
My name is Beryl Parker. I am not a public speaker, nor a speech writer, but I would like to try and convey to you what cloverconnect.com.au is all about. Its history, its structure, its partners and our desire…….
Imagine picking up a young person who is residing in an old age home because they require 24 hour nursing care, and taking them to their new home where they will be living with people their own age, listening to their own music, surrounded by their kind of décor, and most probably being able to participate in the development of the company that provided this new home whilst earning an extra income.
This is one of the visions that connected my husband, Dave and I to become involved in the company that is cloverconnect.com.au
Initially the idea was just that, an idea that there had to be a way that someone who wanted to start their own business or tell people about something would not have to spend a fortune to do this. Where could someone with a very small budget even begin to promote a fledgling business which in turn would have to compete with all the established businesses around them who have massive advertising budgets?
Newspapers are expensive and have a very limited life, and your expensive advertisement will be forgotten with tomorrows printing. Directories are handy to have in your home, but the bigger the ad, the easier the eye is drawn to it, and again we are talking big big bucks. Where can you advertise where you will get a fair deal and have just as much exposure as the ‘big boys’?
And how would it be if you could tell the world about your engagement – with pictures, or advertise your garage sale – with pictures, or swap something, or look for a flat mate, or find a home for a litter of puppies – with pictures, all for less than the price of two cups of coffee per week….well why wouldn’t you????
The other dream was to be able to create a difference! Initially it was just a general idea of supporting charities and 10% of every dollar generated by the site will be committed to charity. By having contact with a woman that actually places people into nursing homes who described how she had just been forced to place a 20 year old woman into a room with a 90 year old woman because there just wasn’t anywhere else for her to go, that planted the seed that cloverconnect.com.au would start a foundation to create ‘Cloverconnect Cottages’ age specific nursing homes. The dream is that eventually there will be nursing homes available for all age groups and never again will a young person go into an old age home.
The other great development that has taken place during the building of this business is the creation of administrators, which will provide us with the ability to give employment to disabled and disadvantaged people, and to create income that stays in the community from where it’s generated.
As its name obviously suggests, cloverconnect.com.au is a website. But a website with a difference! The price is the same for everyone just $10.00 per month to publish up to 4000 characters, 5 photos, list under 5 categories and up to 5 dates on the community calendar.
You can sell, swap, advertise, announce, buy, promote, seek, the list is endless……
The only restrictions are, ‘no adult content’, and thus every publication has to be administered so there is a 24hour turnaround until your publication is there for all to see.
As we have a commitment to communities and helping people we are offering all registered charities the same opportunity to publish with all the same criteria but with no cost ever to them, our aim is to make this site THE place where you can find anything you need, or if you cant find it then you can place a request to find it.
This is a ‘grass roots’ kind of business. By that we mean that is it gets back to basics, it’s available to everyone, its ‘do it yourself’ and it will develop and grow with the input of those using it to become the site for the people, evolving with the input of its users.
There is also the opportunity for members of the community to become a part of clover connect and in doing so will help to spread the word about the aims and ideals of the company. By encouraging everyone to use the site, and in doing so, they will be not only be getting a very affordable platform to spread their word, but will be contributing to ‘Clover Cottages’ and employment of disabled and disadvantaged people.
We are not a network, or multi level marketing business! We are offering to like minded people or associations the opportunity to purchase a postcode for a very nominal fee* with the benefit to the purchaser that 10% of every paid publication made within that postcode will be paid to the postcode owner. All we request is that the postcode owner spread the word about the benefits of using cloverconnect.com.au The money from the sale of these postcodes will not only help to add to the ‘clover cottages’ fund, but will be channeled back into the company to promote the website , in effect we will be assisting all our postcode owners in promoting their business as well.
The reason this community involvement was created was with the view that a % of the earnings of each community would remain in the community. Our idea was that if a junior sporting club wished to purchase a postcode they could promote the site to all of its members and ask them to do the same and they would then be generating their own income and possibly give the poor old parents some respite, as its usually them that has to put hand in pocket week after week to keep some of these clubs going.
There are no tricks, contracts, or hidden agendas with clover connect, we are quite transparent with where every cent of the $10.00 is spent (see advertising brochure)
Our mission is to offer opportunities to everyone, no favourites, the same for the smallest business or the largest, a win win situation for everyone involved with cloverconnect.com.au and the feeling of satisfaction every time you promote or use the site that you are contributing to all the dreams and visions of its designer.
Who by the way is someone I know exceptionally well, I trust with all my heart, and who Dave and I are in complete synchronization. I call her Heather, Dave calls her ‘Boofhead’ (in the nicest possible way) and she is my sister, Heather Collins.
For nearly three years Heather has toiled away with a dream which she has brought to fruition, with some help along the way at times from friends and family, she has persevered and made her dream a reality.

*The cost of a postcode for one year is calculated at 10% of the population as of the 2006 census
eg 10,000 people cost $1,000.00
To retain the postcode it will cost 10% of the previous years earnings so it’s a no loose situation. The more you spread the word the more people will use the site and the more money the postcode owner will make and the more money will be generated for ‘Clover Cottages’ Win Win for all!
